If you're patient you may score something off Craigslist for $100-ish but I wouldn't hold my breath.ĭIY splitter or microjig (google it) is a fairly easy solution to the lack of riving knife. Busy Bee tools sells a decent fence but it's at least that much so factor that in to your decision.
#Delta unisaw serial number lookup plus
You can get probably get the Delta T3 into Canada one way or another but it isn't a trivial expense, $200 US plus shipping etc. I'm no expert but I have restored one table saw and have this exact saw in my basement waiting for my shop to be rewired. I realized that there is no riving knife on this old saw - can I use a splitter instead? I want to be sure to take all the proper safety precautions and get a handle on what I need to buy to bring this into working condition. There is some squeaking but a little oil should clean that up. The blade movement up and down looks good and the right tilt looks good as well. There is also a bit of rust on the machine but I think that's pretty normal given its age. One thing I did note (see pictures), is that the wings are not aligned properly with the center (both vertically and horizontally) - I'm assuming this can be fixed via a simple adjustment? Again, check the pictures of the top to see what I mean. I took a straight edge to the table and it looked pretty flat everywhere. I did the nickel test and the nickel stayed standing (wobbled a bit but never fell over). I will look into the Delta T3 (hopefully I can get that in Canada). The fence is brutal and will need to be replaced. Ran a through test pieces through the saw and it felt pretty smooth (although this is my first table saw so I don't have a lot to compare to). I checked the arbor and it is solid - i couldn't even budge it. The saw was manufactured in Canada but I'm still not sure of the year. How would I move this thing around my shop? Could I make a mobile base for it? (or purchase something)Īlright, just got back from checking this out (here are some images of the saw).I want to go check this out tonight - what kind of things should I look for?.He's asking $550 CAD which seems like a great deal but I don't know a lot about these things. Looking at the Delta Vintage Project, it looks like this could be from 1985 (if he mistakenly told me 35L instead of 85L). The last one looks like the date / serial number. That first number is the motor model number (1.5HP). I asked him for the model number and he gave me the following numbers: The motor is wired for 220 (not sure if I can wire it for 110) and it does NOT come with a mobile base. He says the saw is about 20 years old (maybe more) and that it's in excellent condition. I called the seller and it turns out he's a retired carpenter. I've been searching for a table saw for a while now and I've come across this one: No top-level wood ID, low effort, or price queries No memes, image macros, reaction gifs/videos, etc. Projects related to firearms, religion, or flags will be allowed but locked.
